- Giving too much information is better than not giving enough information.
You should give as much information and detail to your lawyer as possible and let him/her decide what information is relevant to your case. Things you think unimportant, may turn out to be very important for legal arguments.
- Be honest.
Remember, your lawyer cannot share confidential information with anyone without your permission. Being honest and telling your lawyer everything will allow him/her to give you the right advice and guidance to ensure a successful outcome.
- Be mindful of the fact that legal matters often involve strict time deadlines.
If your lawyer advises you of an upcoming deadline and requests something from you, do not put it off. Delays can make your lawyer’s job more difficult. When your lawyer needs something from you, please give it to him/her at your first opportunity.
- Keep your lawyer informed.
Things change, and when they do let your lawyer know. Details and developments can change the legal strategy of your case.
- Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
It’s your case.
