May is Mental Health Awareness Month – You Can Start a #RealConvo

As part of Mental Health Awareness Month 2019, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (“AFSP”) has launched a public awareness campaign called #RealConvo. The goal of the campaign is to inspire people to

  • shares their stories;
  • have conversations about mental health; and
  • find supportive communities – both on and offline.

AFSP has a toolkit that contains really great ideas on how YOU can start a #RealConvo about mental health, and also they offer practical guidance on how to keep the #RealConvo going.

Another cool and informative way to get involved and spread that message that Mental Health Is Just As Important As Physical Health is by downloading and sharing on social media from AFSP’s Instagram:  Also on AFSP’s website, there is a “Calendar of Events,” including a Twitter chat on May 22nd hosted by: AFSP, @ActiveMinds, @BornThisWayFoundation, Crisis Text Line, The Jed Foundation, Mental Health America, and the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

You matter. You are necessary. Your mental health is JUST as important as your physical health. Please remember that you are never alone. And please remember that YOU have many more than 13 reasons why to STAY ALIVE on this Earth.

And also remember that if you are ever denied treatment for your mental and emotional health needs, we are here to help. To connect with us about your denial, please or use our online contact form or call 818.886.2525 to speak to one of our compassionate and very well-informed Intake Coordinators, Amy, Tara or Theresa.
